Independently Contracted Courier:

­

Our courier division is our most diverse operation made up of independent contractors from all walks of life and vehicles of all shapes and sizes. 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, our courier division is designed to handle all but the largest shipments our customers can throw at us (which we humbly reserve for our trucking division!) Our courier division is comprised of cars, pickup trucks with lockable camper tops, SUVs, minivans, full-­size cargo vans, and extended roof vans (i.e. Sprinter / Ford Transit / Nissan NV). As the name implies, Independent Contractors are individuals in business for themselves. Contractors are required to provide their own vehicle, equipment, insurance, fuel, and maintenance. Contractor vehicles will need to pass a basic “sight and sound” inspection in order to be found acceptable and presentable. Other requirements include:

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds
  • Valid drivers license and one additional form of government issued identification
  • 3 ­Year motor vehicle record with no more than 3 violations
  • Minimal insurance requirements of 100/300/50 for vehicles under 10,001 pounds.
  • A smart phone running the Android, IOS, or Windows operating system
  • ICs must have Occupational Accident Insurance before receiving dispatch

Independently Contracted Box Truck Drivers:

Our box truck division is made up of both independent contractors and company drivers (see CDL Company Drivers for more info). It is designed to handle larger freight shipments, customers with dock-­high shipping/receiving, and specialized needs such as lift­gate, air-­ride, or optimized freight securing services. Both Class C and Class B box trucks are accepted, but must be dock high, have a working lift gate, and need to be air-­ride equipped. Class B trucks will need to be registered with the DOT to have Motor Carrier authority for crossing state lines. Contractor vehicles must pass a basic “sight and sound” inspection in order to be found acceptable and presentable to run for ATL Courier, Inc. Other requirements include:

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and push up to 1,500 pound skids with a pallet jack.
    Driver will be required to provide a pallet jack.
  • Valid driver’s license and one additional form of government issued identification
  • Will need to provide a copy of your DOT medical card
  • 3 ­Year motor vehicle record with no more than 3 violations
  • Minimal insurance requirements differ on vehicle weight rating. Class C trucks 10,001 to 26,000 pounds require a minimum $500,000 liability with $100,000 cargo. Class B trucks 26,001 pounds and greater require a minimum $1,000,000 liability with $100,000 cargo
  • Will need to provide a copy of your authority to operate (DOT# and Motor Carrier#)
  • Will need to provide a copy of your most recent annual inspection for the vehicle
  • A smartphone running Android, iOS, or Windows operating system
  • ICs must have Occupational Accident Insurance before receiving dispatch

CDL Company Drivers:

­

Our commercial division is comprised of 24′ Box Trucks, Tractors hauling 53′ dry vans, Flatbed and Step Deck Trailers. While our primary focus is local and Southeast regional, we are equipped for the long haul when needed. You can look forward to being home most nights and weekends. Box truck drivers average 1 night per week on the road and tractor drivers average 1-­2 nights per week on the road. We look for drivers that have a wide array of experience and skill sets and accept both Class A and B drivers. Those interested in driving for our commercial division will need to meet the following requirements:

  • At least 18 months consecutive or 24 months collective of commercial driving experience (Driver Training Certificate required for applicants with less than 24 months of commercial experience)
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and push up to 1,500 pound skids with a pallet jack
  • Valid driver’s license and one additional form of government issued identification
  • Will need to provide a copy of your DOT medical card
  • 3­ Year motor vehicle record with no more than 3 violations
  • Please provide evidence of any additional endorsements you may have
